Hi guys,

I recently got the library editions of Buffy season 8 and love them. I was wondering if anybody know if they will release these for season 9? Couldn't find any information online.

I assume that they would do it since they released all of season 8 in that format. I just got volume one and I love it too! The oversized book with all the extras is really nice. I would guess that they wouldn't have volume one of season 9 come out till late 2014 though. As I recall there was a gap of many months between the final trade paperback and the first library edition of season 8. With the last trades coming this month, it could take quite awhile before we hear any news on this.

I hope so, I would love to have all canon continuations from TV should bound in library editions like Season 8 was, they are a great collectors item and I prefer hardback.

Georges Jeanty said a few months ago that he wouldn't be surprised to see S9 getting the Library Edition. I guess it's just a matter of time.

I have the feeling Jo Chen won't do the covers though. Maybe Steve Morris ?

Jo Chen has done all the covers for the trades, even though there were steady cover artists for the run. And there seems to be a really high demand and appreciation for her painted covers, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was on cover duty for these, if they come to fruition.

Yeah, it's just a feeling. I'd be glad to see her take on Severin, I did like that character.

I love Jo Chen artwork so fingers crossed she does the library edition artwork for at least one of the series.

Found the cover to the first edition! And Scott recently said in an interview that they were doing library editions for both Buffy S9 and Angel & Faith, with the Spike and Willow miniseries placed somewhere in them. I think he said there'd be three hardcovers for each title.

I believe he actually revealed details about the HC editions during the Q&A session of the Whedonverse panel at SDCC 2014. The covers will all be done by Steve Morris.

Yes yes, the panel! Wrong word. Apologies.

And I loooove the first cover. I wasn't sure how to feel when they announced Steve would be doing them all, because his covers are usually hit or miss with me. But I really love the design. Hopefully the rest will be similar.

According to Allie, all the cover designs will sorta tie in with each other, which will be interesting to see how they manage that.
As for Morris' covers, I'm actually more a fan of his covers than Chen's. They're usually a lot more dynamic and surreal-looking, which I tend to appreciate more than photorealism.

I love how subtle this cover is. Drawing Buffy's hand in that position and so close to her belly was just ingenious.
